Description


  • Rock Climbing on school climbing wall and natural rock (2 day camp)

  • Demonstrate skills in mountain biking - Dunedin and Naseby (2 day camp)

  • Orienteering around Dunedin 

  • Paddling a craft (rafting)

  • Day tramps around Dunedin

  • Experience camping and tramping

  • Navigation, map reading and understanding weather patterns

  • Whakatipu Tangata - connecting our behaviour with Te Taiao

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Description:


Year 11 Physical Education has four Achievement Standards with practical and written components:


  • Applying movement strategies in a practical performance such as basketball

  • Demonstrate strategies to promote kotahitanga/togetherness in three different contexts (volleyball, ultimate frisbee, football)

  • Understand how Te Ao Māori and biophysics influence your performance through sport and games, for example Ki-O-Rahi

  • Participate in three different movement experiences within one context (inline skating) and relate this to Hauora

PHYSICAL EDUCATION WITH HEALTH

Description


Year 11 Physical Education with Health has four Achievement Standards: two from the Physical Education domain, and two from the Health Studies domain. There are written and practical elements within the course:

  • Applying movement strategies in a practical performance such as basketball

  • Understand how Te Ao Māori and biophysics influence your performance through sport and games, for example Ki-O-Rahi

  • Use a decision-making model to explore socio-ecological (personal, interpersonal, societal) perspectives with issues related to alcohol & drugs, relationships & sexuality or mental health

  • Explore strategies to enhance hauora through Manaakitanga in situations involving alcohol & drugs, relationships & sexuality or mental health
