Description
Take your outdoor adventure skills and risk management to the next level as you build practical competencies and begin to take on more responsibility. Level 2 Outdoor Education focuses on preparing for multi-day expeditions, building leadership and self responsibility.
What you'll be learning:
Cycle Touring: Embark on a multi-day adventure on the scenic Clutha Gold Trail, including bike maintenance skills.
Adventure Based Learning: Challenge yourself with high ropes and abseiling at Camp Columba.
Paddling: Hone your kayaking skills in controlled environments (Moana Pool) before venturing onto more dynamic waters.
Snorkelling: Explore underwater environments in the pool and the ocean (with Dive Otago).
Rock Climbing & Abseiling: Further develop your climbing and rope work expertise.
Overnight Tramping: Plan and execute a challenging overnight tramp, applying advanced navigation and outdoor living skills.
Whakawhanaungatanga and Kaitiakitanga: These core values are woven throughout every unit, fostering strong connections and environmental stewardship.

Description
Year 12 Physical Education is perfect for students who enjoy challenging themselves physically, are curious about the science of the body, and want to make a positive impact on individual and community well-being in their local community. This course has the flexibility to integrate Health standards, providing students with agency in the direction of their learning.
What you'll be learning:
Practical Performance: Refine your skills and strategies in two different practical contexts chosen by the class
The Science of Movement: Apply anatomy, biomechanics and sports psychology to unlock the secrets to optimal performance.
Training for Performance: Apply different training methods and learn how we can train effectively to improve our performance.
Risk Management: Embark on an exciting 2-3 day camp with a rafting option in your local environment.
Step into a leadership role by coaching skills at a local primary school.
Take action to improve well-being within your school or the wider community or analyse issues related to sexuality and gender.
