Year 12
SCIENCE

12BIOL

BIOLOGY

Description

  • This course includes a week at Borland Camp in Fiordland where we study ecology and investigate a range of habitats through outdoor education

  • During the study of cells we carry out practical work, develop our microscope skills and look at how cells carry out essential life processes like respiration

  • We look at how genes are inherited and then expressed and compare this to the occurrence of various mutations

  • Investigate how the genetics of populations change through time

  • Develop the understanding that allows us to evaluate possible future directions of human biology that may affect us, such as growing body parts in laboratory to replace faulty parts

Prerequisites
