Description


Students have the opportunity to choose their focus at level 2. This is a broad and interesting course which allows you to further develop your computing and design skills. This course covers:

  • Expanding on understanding of key programming concepts using a programming language

  • Developing an understanding of effective website design in the creation of a multi-page website using HTML and CSS

  • Digital media technologies

  • Iterative design processes

Hospitality

12HOSP

Description


This is a Level 2 course in which students will develop skills in the cookery aspect of Hospitality. The programme is designed around Service IQ Unit Standards, and offer the Certificate of Achievement in Cookery 2 and 4. The credits also count towards NCEA Level 2. It i s designed as a further step towards Level 3 Hospitality. In this course students will:

  • Complete Unit Standard 167: Practice food safety methods in a food business. This is a certificate requirement for employment in the Hospitality industry

  • Handle and maintain knives and equipment in the kitchen

  • Demonstrate cookery techniques of grilling, baking, stir frying, roasting

  • Prepare and cook basic foods eg. salads, fruit, vegetables, meat, cakes, pastries, breads and sandwiches

Textiles

Description


  • You will create one or two textiles items. These may include a garment for yourself, a wearable arts project, a recycled item or a Textile item for a specified purpose.

  • You will learn to go through the technological process of designing; adapting a pattern; creating a construction plan to follow; making mock-ups while learning techniques and processes; then constructing a garment and or a textile item.

Prerequisites

Preferable to have Level 1 Textiles but this can be negotiated
