Digital Technology

Description

Students continue to build on their knowledge of programming, or digital media. You will create complex digital media outcomes using high level processes and techniques.

Your course could cover:

  • Developing understanding of complex digital media concepts, using these concepts in the creation of

  • digital media outcome

  • Exploring complex ways to manipulate and present data using database software

  • Developing complex computer programs using iterative design processes

Prerequisites

At least 14 Achieved Credits in Level 2 Digital Technology

Assessment

  • Minimum of 16 Internal Credits, with optional additional assessments

  • 6 External Credits

Food and Nutrition

Description

  • To critically examine factors influencing well-being at a societal level in food and nutrition

  • Investigate and address a nutritional issue in New Zealand

  • Implement  an action plan to address a nutritional issue in the school community

  • Examine a food related ethical dilemma

  • Explore the influence food advertising has on wellbeing

Hospitality

Description

The aim of this course is to provide students with the confidence, knowledge and essential skills for a career in catering and hospitality.  The Level 3 programme is a pathway for students to continue their studies in Hospitality – designed as a further step towards Tertiary Courses.

  • Knowledge of hazards, which cause food-borne illness and food spoilage

  • Knowledge of culinary products and the terminology of foods 

  • Food preparation skills

Textiles

Description

  • You will develop a textile solution to be shown in a public forum. This could be a costume, wearable art, fashion garment, ball gown etc.

  • You will learn to draft your own block and use this to complete a personal pattern for a garment.

Preferable to have Level 1 or 2 Textiles but this can be negotiated
